89 people hospitalized with COVID-19 in District 8, down from 95 Friday

Monroe County   

Monroe County confirmed 12 new COVID-19 cases Monday, down from 29 on Friday. 

No new deaths were reported, keeping the total to 197.  

The county is in the yellow advisory.  Its seven-day positivity rate is 4.5 percent Monday – the same as Friday’s rate. The county has confirmed 15,180 cases since the pandemic began.    

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 89 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, down from 95 on Friday. 

Monroe County’s weekly cases per 100,000 were down to 114 from 144 last week.  

The Monroe County Community School Corp. reported three COVID-19 cases Monday and nine on Friday.  

Indiana        

The state recorded 701 new COVID-19 cases Monday, down from Friday’s 2,303. 

The Indiana Department of Health confirmed one COVID-19 deaths Monday but added 58 to the total which brings it to 15,771. The state has reported 1,000,163 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.     

The state recorded 1,576 Hoosiers hospitalized with COVID-19 on Monday and 1,599 on Friday. Thursday was the first day hospitalizations went below 1,700 since Aug. 18, and Friday was the first time hospitalizations have gone below 1,600 since Aug. 16. 

The state’s seven-day positivity Monday was 8.8 percent, down from 9 percent Friday.
