Monroe County
Monroe County confirmed 16 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, down from 24 Tuesday, and up from 12 Monday.
One new death was confirmed, which happened Monday. It brings the total to 199.
The county has been in the yellow advisory for three weeks. Its seven-day positivity rate is 4.4 percent Wednesday, up from 4.3 percent Tuesday. The county has confirmed 15,218 cases since the pandemic began.
In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown, and Bartholomew counties, 80 people are hospitalized with COVID-19, up from 78 Tuesday. Hospitalizations haven’t been as low as Tuesday since Aug. 18.
Monroe County’s weekly cases per 100,000 are down to 111 from 114 last week and 144 two weeks ago.
The Monroe County Community School Corp. reported 13 COVID-19 cases Tuesday and three on Monday.
Indiana
The state recorded 2,023 new COVID-19 cases Wednesday, up from 1,593 Tuesday, and from 701 Monday.
The Indiana Department of Health confirmed 51 COVID-19 deaths Wednesday, bringing the total to 15,883. The state has reported 1,003,647 COVID-19 cases since the start of the pandemic.
The state recorded 1,475 Hoosiers hospitalized with COVID-19 on Wednesday and 1,593 Tuesday. Friday was the first-time hospitalizations have gone below 1,600 since Aug. 16. Wednesday is the first-time state hospitalizations have gone below 1,500 since Aug. 15.
The state’s seven-day positivity Wednesday is 8.6 percent, down from 8.8 percent Monday and Tuesday.
Long-Term Care Facilities
The state reported 113 new positive cases among residents at long-term care facilities this week after 126 last Wednesday and 141 Oct. 6. On Sept. 29, the state recorded 385 resident cases.
The state’s total number of confirmed cases among residents is 26,143.
Thirty-two new resident deaths were confirmed this week. That’s 12 more than last week’s count.
The total number of resident deaths since the start of the pandemic is 6,528.
