Dakota King temporarily released from Monroe County Jail again

Dakota King was again granted temporary release from the Monroe County Jail Monday.

King has been held at the jail since 2019, when he allegedly admitted to killing his girlfriend’s 2-month-old child after the baby spit up on him.

King was released at 6 p.m. Monday to allow him to find housing as part of a plea deal he agreed to in April. The agreement would allow him to serve his sentence under home detention, but to do so, he needs to find a place to live in Monroe County.

He was released from the jail last week for the same reason but was unable to secure a residence.

King will have to turn himself back in at 6 p.m. Wednesday. He has a sentencing hearing scheduled Jan. 18.
