Indianapolis spared from majority of omicron-related flight cancellations

Travelers are flocking to the airport during the holiday season.

While the vast majority of scheduled passenger flights have departed and arrived as planned at the Indianapolis International Airport, a few of the delays or cancellations carriers have endured elsewhere have been felt here at home.

The majority of delays out of Indianapolis are weather-related.

Fewer than six flights from American, Delta, and United were cancelled Tuesday.

In a statement, United said the nationwide spike in omicron cases had “a direct impact on our flight crews and the people who run our operation.”

Other airlines have made similar statements.

Delta, in a published statement Tuesday, said it had cancelled nearly 6 percent of its scheduled flights— only a few of which were scheduled to depart or arrive in Indianapolis.
