Eight City of Bloomington employees test positive for COVID-19, including five in BPD

The City of Bloomington reported eight new COVID-19 cases among its employees this week, up from five new cases last week.

Five of the new cases were among Bloomington Police Department (BPD) employees. Two cases came from the department of public works, and another from the parks and recreation department.

Three BPD employee first experienced symptoms Dec. 21, 22 and 24. Another two employees started experiencing symptoms Dec. 28.

None of the employees who tested positive were linked to previous cases, nor did they expose members of the public while working. The city said no close contacts were identified.
