Monroe County confirms 157 COVID-19 cases

Monroe County confirmed 157 new COVID-19 cases Tuesday, bringing its total since the pandemic began to 18,726. No new deaths were reported.

The county’s seven-day positivity rate rose to 13.4 percent, up from 10.7 percent Monday.

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown and Bartholomew counties, hospitalizations dropped to 141 from 147 Monday. About 44 percent of the district’s 73 ICU beds are occupied by COVID patients.

Statewide

The state reported 8,533 new positive cases Tuesday, up from 4,091 Monday. This pushes the total since the pandemic began to 1,286,590. The state also reported 172 new deaths, bringing the pandemic total to 18,605.

Hospitalizations rose to 3,207 Tuesday, up from 3,164 Monday.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate climbed to 20.5 percent, up from 18.2 percent Monday.
