Jacinda Townsend Gides represented district six on the MCCSC Board of School Trustees. Her current term began in January 2021 and runs through 2024.

MCCSC board member Jacinda Townsend Gides resigned her seat as district six representative Tuesday.

“I would like to wish Jacinda all the best in her next chapter and her family,” board member Cathy Fuentes-Rhower said during the annual organizational meeting. “And we are so appreciative of her service for the board in the time that she’s been here.”

Townsend Gides was appointed to the board in January 2020 and reelected later that year. Her term runs through 2024.

Indiana Code 20-23-4-30 states the remaining members of the governing body shall vote to appoint a new member from within the boundaries of the school corporation. If the board fails to appoint a new member within 30 days, a Monroe County Circuit Court judge will make the appointment.

2022 Officers

During the meeting, board members approved Brandon Shurr as the new board president, Elizabeth Ruh as vice president, Martha Street as secretary and April Hennessey as assistant secretary.

A 2022 calendar for the board was also approved. It includes 12 regular meetings at 6 p.m. on the fourth Tuesday of each month, excluding November and December. Both of those meetings will occur on the second Tuesday of the month.

Given it provides notice required under state law, the board is still capable of scheduling executive sessions, special meetings, and work sessions as it sees fit.

Pay for board members will remain the same at $2,000 in basic compensation. Members also receive $112 for each regular meeting and $62 for additional meetings.

The next regularly scheduled MCCSC board meeting is at 6 p.m. on Jan. 25 at the Co-Lab, located at 555 E Miller Drive.
