Monroe County reports 205 new COVID-19 cases

Monroe County confirmed 206 new COVID-19 cases Friday, up from 163 Thursday. This brings its total since the pandemic began to 19,388.

Two new deaths were reported, bringing the county total to 236.

The county’s positivity rate rose to 19.3 percent, up from 18.9 percent Thursday. 

In District 8, which includes Monroe, Brown and Bartholomew counties, hospitalizations dropped to 134, down from 144 Thursday. Almost 47 percent of the district’s 73 ICU beds are occupied by COVID patients, with about 10 beds still available.

Statewide

The state reported 14,933 new positive cases Friday, down from 15,277 Thursday. This brings the state total since the pandemic began to 1,329,423. 

The state also reported 165 new deaths Friday, up from 150 Thursday. This brings the pandemic total to 18,959. 

Hospitalizations rose to 3,314, up from 3,303 Thursday. In total, 36 percent of the state’s 2,038 ICU beds are occupied by COVID-19 patients.

The state’s seven-day positivity rate climbed to 24.2 percent, up from 23.8 percent Thursday.
