Bloomington man arrested in connection with shooting at Kalao Nightclub

Bloomington police arrested a 27-year-old man in connection with the April 23 shooting at Kalao Nightclub.

After reviewing video surveillance from inside the nightclub, officers identified Keiantrea Washington of Bloomington as the shooter in the early morning incident at the club on North Walnut Street that left three people wounded.

A probable cause affidavit was filed in Monroe County Circuit Court and an arrest warrant for Washington was issued on April 25 for multiple felony charges related to the shooting.

Detectives began an effort to locate Washington in town, and on Monday determined he was inside a residence in the 400 block of S. Magnolia Court. Because of the nature of the charges, the Critical Incident Response Team was used to arrest Washington.

He was transported to the Monroe County Jail and remanded on felony charges of attempted murder, two counts of aggravated battery and criminal recklessness.

Officers were called to Kalao a little after 1 a.m. on April 23 in response to a reported shooting inside the bar. Upon arriving on the scene, officers found three male victims – ages 41, 26, and 22 – with gunshot wounds outside the bar. All three were transported to IU Health Bloomington for treatment.
