Combating fentanyl overdoses, Yellow groove bamboo, COVID update | Indiana Newsdesk

Overdose deaths continue to rise in the state, driven by the synthetic opioid fentanyl. But some recovery advocates are finding it difficult to combat the overdose epidemic. One organization details their struggle to expand harm reduction efforts in Evansville.

Yellow groove bamboo was labeled an invasive species by the city of Bloomington in 2020, leaving residents facing fines if the fast-growing plant isn’t removed. But difficulty eradicating the plant has pushed the city to update its enforcement policy.

And a popular breakfast eatery on Kirkwood will soon be demolished to make room for more downtown apartments.
