A 17-year-old was airlifted to Methodist Hospital Friday after a crash near Mays Greenhouse, involving three cars, a dump truck, and a Gator.

According to the Monroe County sheriff’s office, a car traveling north on Old State Road 37 around 3:30 p.m. rear-ended a car stopped to turn into the Mays Greenhouse parking lot. The car was pushed into the southbound lane, directly in the path of a dump truck. The truck swerved into the parking lot, hitting both a parked car and a Gator driven by a 17-year-old greenhouse employee. The truck crashed into the main building, pinning the 17-year-old underneath.

The juvenile was airlifted to Indianapolis for serious pelvis and leg injuries. The current condition is unknown.

The driver of the dump truck was taken to Bloomington Hospital for incapacitating injuries.

The roadway was cleared and reopened around 6:15 p.m.

Mays Greenhouse remains temporarily closed.
