For Indiana University sports fans, it doesn’t get much better than this weekend.

On Friday, the homecoming parade will make its way through the north side of campus, followed by the annual Hoosier Hysteria basketball event at Simon Skjodt Assembly Hall.

Then Saturday, the Hoosier football team hosts No. 4 Michigan at Memorial Stadium.

The homecoming parade leaves at 5:30 p.m. from the stadium, 90 minutes before Hoosier Hysteria tips off. Because of the parade, 17th Street will be closed, so anyone coming for Hoosier Hysteria will have to enter from the parking lots off the 45/46 bypass.

The basketball event is the annual season tip-off for the men’s and women’s basketball teams and will feature a 3-point shooting contest, skills competition and “other basketball activities.”

The Hoosier men are coming off the first NCAA Tournament appearance in six years and have the ninth-ranked freshman class in the nation. IU’s women return two all-Big Ten players from a team that has reached the Sweet 16 two years in a row.

"I know I was overwhelmed by the love shown to me by Hoosier Nation last year, and I can assure you we will have a fun evening," second-year IU men’s basketball coach Mike Woodson said in a news release. "Our players and staff are excited about what's ahead, and we can't wait to spend time with the best fan base in the country for the first time with our group."

The planned 90-minute event is free to the public, but attendees are asked to bring a canned good for donation to the Hoosier Hills Food Bank.

On Saturday, FOX’s “Big Noon Kickoff” program will broadcast from the south end zone of Memorial Stadium beginning at 10 a.m., two hours before kickoff. Indiana will be looking to snap a two-game losing streak when it faces 5-0 Michigan.
