United Way of Monroe County names Randy Rogers as new president and CEO

Randy Rogers is asking the Bloomington community to "get engaged" with United Way as economic downturn creates greater challenges for people in need.

United Way of Monroe County has named Randy Rogers as its new president and CEO.  

The local social service agency announced Rogers will begin his job Oct. 31. He will succeed Efrat Feferman, who served as executive director since 2017.  

Rogers comes from a fundraising and real estate background. He was formerly associate vice president for development at DePauw University, executive director of advancement and campaigns for Ivy Tech, and director of development at IU’s School of Environmental and Public Affairs.

Aside from his recent position at a Tucson, Ariz., real estate company, Rogers has spent most of the past 27 years in Bloomington. He received an undergraduate degree from IU in 1989 and returned in 1995.

“The one thing that I really wanted to find in this next chapter was that opportunity to dig into what I love so much with this community,” Rogers said. 

Rogers said addressing housing insecurity will be United Way’s top priority and greatest challenge considering social pressures.

“It is a really critical role that we will play. We try to not only evaluate [homelessness], I think there's a lot of a lot of folks who have done that work,” Rogers said. “Now, we’re taking some action on it and trying to help those that are that are most in need.” 

United Way is a local organization whose stated goal is to eliminate inequalities experienced by low-income groups. It said in a press release that Rogers was chosen for his experience, Bloomington connections and enthusiasm for its mission.
