Child welfare, City Council denies jail site, sustainable shrimp farming | Indiana Newsdesk

A foster care mother is leading a push at the statehouse for more money to be invested and new regulations put in place to improve child welfare in the state. Part of one piece of legislation called Judah’s Law passed in the last session.

Bloomington City Council unanimously voted against re-zoning a tract of land off I-69 that the county wanted to use to build a new jail. The council also tabled a proposal to expand city hall to include the police and fire departments.

A warehouse in Indianapolis is home to a new and unusual industry in the state – sustainable shrimp farming.
