Zeta Beta Tau fraternity on cease and desist after hazing

The suspension will remain in effect until further notice.
The suspension will remain in effect until further notice.

IU’s Zeta Beta Tau fraternity was placed on cease and desist following inappropriate hazing rituals Feb. 3.

After being suspended for endangering others, alcohol use and failure to comply with university police and Greek life policies, the chapter was released from disciplinary probation at the end of October last semester. The chapter again was placed on probation again for similar infractions in December. According to IU Student Affairs, the sanction will end Sept. 8.

ZBT is one of seven Greek organizations on disciplinary probation and one of 10 on suspension.

Because the chapter is already on probation, the violation could lead to further consequences, including suspension.

The recent order suspended all recruitment activities Jan. 26 to Feb. 3. The suspension will remain in effect until further notice.
