Bloomington residents located within Zone 1 of the city received two utility bills this month.

Residents were not actually double billed, just accidentally sent two bills due to a printer issue.

“They accidentally grabbed Zone 1 from February of 2022. So, all of our customers in Zone 1 received a bill for February 2023 and a bill for February of 2022,” said Holly McLaughlin, communications manager for the City of Bloomington Utilities.

There will not be penalties if people accidentally pay the lesser of the two bills, McLaughlin noted.

“I’m glad that customers noticed it right away, [and our] mailer noticed it right away, and we were able to set a procedure in place so that it doesn't happen again,” McLaughlin said.

Customers can call or email the City of Bloomington’s utility department for further questions or concerns.
