Drug users have begun mixing the animal tranquilizer xylazine with heroine and fentanyl with lethal consequences. Overdose deaths from xylazine in the Midwest rose from 57 in 2020 to 351 in 2021.

A little more than a decade ago, Indiana University eliminated its Office of Women’s Affairs, dividing its role among different departments. But inequalities in pay and tenure for men and women on IU’s faculty remain.
