Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis was named first team All-Big Ten and Jalen Hood-Schifino earned the league’s Freshman of the Year award, the Big Ten announced Tuesday.
Jackson-Davis averaged 20.5 points and 11.0 rebounds for the Hoosiers. It’s the fourth straight season the 6-foot-9 senior forward was named All-Big Ten. Jackson-Davis is now fourth all-time on the school’s scoring list and is IU’s all-time leading rebounder and shot blocker.
He was joined on the coaches’ and media’s first teams by Purdue’s Zach Edey, Iowa’s Kris Murray and Penn State’s Jalen Pickett. Michigan’s Hunter Dickinson and Northwestern’s Boo Buie rounded out the media’s first team, while Illinois’ Terrance Shannon was on the coaches’ first team.
Edey, who averaged 21.9 points and 12.8 rebounds, was named the Big Ten’s Player of the Year by both the media and coaches.
Chris Collins, who led Northwestern to a second-place finish in the league, was chosen as the Coach of the Year by both the media and coaches.
Hood-Schifino was also named second team All-Big Ten by the media and to the third team by the league’s coaches. He averaged 13.4 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.8 assists.
Indiana finished the season 21-10 overall and 12-8 in the Big Ten. The Hoosiers earned the third seed and a double bye for this week’s Big Ten Tournament in Chicago. They’re scheduled to tip-off Friday night around 9.
