Shruti Rana has won the nomination for the District 5 seat on Bloomington City Council.
Rana has served as the Democratic representative on the Monroe county Election Board and the Board of Public Safety.
She ran on issues including civil rights, health care and sustainable development.
Rana is senior assistant dean of curricular and undergraduate affairs in the Hamilton Lugar School of Global and International Studies and professor at the Maurer School of Law.
She ran against Jenny Stevens.
