Blackwell Campground is proposed to receive improvements including a water line, designated campsites with picnic tables and grills, a day use/backcountry overnight use parking area, drainage work, native tree planting, and fee-tube installation.
Blackwell Campground is proposed to receive improvements including a water line, designated campsites with picnic tables and grills, a day use/backcountry overnight use parking area, drainage work, native tree planting, and fee-tube installation.

The Forest Service has proposed to make improvements to three existing campgrounds, one boat ramp, and one existing group campground on the Hoosier National Forest and welcomes public feedback on the plans by June 22.

Blackwell Campground, Shirley Creek Campground and Young Creek Campground are being considered for improvements including adding parking pads, fire rings, planting native trees, and more.

The Forest Service says these improvements would better define campsites and promote a more welcoming atmosphere to visitors.

Also proposed is the addition of a non-motorized boat loading and unloading ramp at Celina Lake, as well as two small picnic structures at Primrose and Goldenrod Group Campgrounds within the Tipsaw Lake Recreation Area.

Public comments can be emailed to comments-eastern-hoosier@usda.gov and must include your name, address and telephone number, as it will become part of the public record for this project.

Comments can also be mailed to Hoosier National Forest, Attn: Campground Improvements, 811 Constitution Avenue, Bedford, IN 47421 or faxed to 812-547-9259.
