Indiana’s Jalen Hood-Schifino and Trayce Jackson-Davis were selected in the NBA Draft Thursday night, marking the first time since 2017 two Hoosiers were taken in the same draft.

Hood-Shifino is bound for the West Coast after the Los Angeles Lakers selected him in the first round with the No. 17 overall pick.

The Big Ten’s Freshman of the Year is the first Hoosier to go in the first round since Boston drafted Romeo Langford 14th in 20-19.

“I think the sky is the limit for him,” Indiana head coach Mike Davis said in a statement. “Los Angeles Lakers got a solid player on and off the floor that's going to work his tail off. That's all you can ask from a rookie coming in. He'll learn the NBA, and we'll be talking about him probably 10 years down the road because he'll have a solid career in the NBA.”

Hood-Schifino started all 32 games last season, averaging 13.5 points, 4.1 rebounds and 3.7 assists for the Hoosiers.

Jackson-Davis was selected by the Golden State Warriors in the second round with the 57 th overall pick. The Warriors acquired the pick in a draft-night trade with the Washington Wizards.

The First Team All-American finished his four-year career at Indiana as the school’s all-time leading rebounder (1,143) and shot blocker (270), and is third in all-time points scored (2,258).

“He is ready for the NBA because he is so athletic and can do a lot of things,” Woodson said. “He can get up and down the floor and finish around the rim. Golden State got a hell of a player.”

Jackson-Davis averaged 20.9 points and 10.8 rebounds a game last season as a senior.
