Police on Saturday arrested a Bloomington man accused of shooting another person outside a Subway restaurant on the north side of the city.

Police said Sunday that Sean Rivers, 22, was an employee at the restaurant.

“Witnesses advised investigators that Rivers and the victim had gotten into some sort of verbal argument because of where the victim had parked his vehicle,” a police statement said.

“The victim then reportedly walked out of the restaurant and Rivers was seen exiting the restaurant and walking towards the area where the witnesses last saw the victim. Shortly thereafter, witnesses reported hearing a single gunshot, then observed Rivers come back into the restaurant, where he gathered his belongings and left the store on foot.”

The statement said police located Rivers at a residence and arrested him without incident Saturday. He was transported to the Bloomington Police Department for questioning and taken to the Monroe Co. Jail for processing.

Rivers is charged with attempted murder.

Court records did not show if he had an attorney as of Sunday.

Police said the victim was hospitalized and in critical condition after undergoing multiple emergency surgeries.
