Tom Allen looks forward to Friday game, will evaluate OSU loss

The Indiana Hoosiers football team will face off Friday against Indiana State at Memorial Stadium.

Coming off a 23-3 loss against Ohio State, Coach Tom Allen said there’s a lot to learn from last Saturday’s defeat.

“We had a chance to play and see a lot of our new faces and how they kind of responded to a high-level opponent,” Allen said. “Now is a good chance to evaluate and build off the things that we did well and correct the things that we made mistakes on.”

Allen said he plans to continue using all three running backs in the upcoming game. He also said neither of his two quarterbacks, Tayven Jackson and Brendan Sorsby, had separated themselves from the other in terms of skill.

Friday’s matchup is also an opportunity for Allen to reconnect with ISU coach Curt Mallory. Mallory’s father previously coached for the Hoosiers, and Allen says he looks forward to meeting his friend at midfield.

“It'll be a very warm embrace,” he said. “It'll be more than your typical just your pre-game bro-hug between coaches, that kind of thing. There's just so much respect.”

The Sycamores are coming off a 27-0 loss at home to Eastern Illinois last Friday.

IU kicks off against Indiana State Friday at 7 at Memorial Stadium.
