4 arrested on human trafficking and rape charges

An initial hearing was held yesterday in Bartholomew County for four people on the charges of rape and human trafficking.

The case is part of an ongoing investigation from July, when a woman who gave birth at Columbus Regional Hospital was found to be disabled.

The woman was tested and suspected to have the cognitive function of a toddler. Because of this, she was not able to consent to a sexual relationship, meaning her child would be a result of rape.

The woman lived in Jonesville, Indiana with Brandon Jacobs, Christina Moffatt and Christopher Lovell.

According to the court affidavit all three had been involved in sexual acts with the woman. Lovell had a previous arrest for battering the woman while she was pregnant.

Investigators said they also discovered that a fourth person, Jon Arnold from Salem, Indiana, had been involved. Arnold said he saw the woman approximately 12 to 15 times at his residence and had sexual contact during the visits.

Jacobs said he made arrangements with Arnold to bring the woman to Arnold “so many times a month for $600.” Arnold said there was never an arrangement, but he would help pay bills and send money over.

According to Lovell, Arnold and Moffatt used a chat line and an OnlyFans account to distribute pornographic content of the woman.

The results of the hearing have not been released yet. According to county sheriff Chris Lane, the victim and her child are being cared for and safe.
