Gas station and convenience retail chain Wawa announced its Indiana expansion yesterday. Hoosiers will be able to get the chain’s famous hoagies as early as 2025.

The company is planning to build 60 stores over the next eight to ten years. Wawa operates more than 1,000 stores in six states and Washington, D.C.

Theannouncement came during the company’s midwest community tour. It also announced “flight plans” for 40 locations in Kentucky and 60 locations in Ohio.

Wawa has more than 16 sites under contract in Clark, Dearborn, Delaware, Hamilton, Hancock, Hendricks, Johnson, Madison, Marion and Wayne counties. The company plans to open up as many as ten locations in 2025, ten more in 2026 and five stores every sequential year.

The company will invest approximately $7 million and employ about 140 contractors and local partners. Each store will employ about 35 people.

The gas station chain has gained a cult following, primarily with Philadelphia natives. Store operations director Joe Collins is looking forward to bringing the Wawa spirit to the Midwest.

“We were thrilled to share our ‘flight plan’ for Indiana and reveal, for the very first time, our exciting expansion plans, renderings and more with our newest soon-to-be neighbors,” Collins said.

‘Our Community Partnership Day event also gave us the opportunity to meet new community members and talk a little bit about our history and what makes Wawa such an ideal fit for communities in this region. We can’t wait to begin putting shovels into the ground next year! As we get closer to our grand openings in 2025, we will be sharing even more details on our growth in Indiana and connecting with more customers, communities, partners and nonprofit organizations that together make this such an incredible region to be a part of!”

The company also made donations to Riley Children’s Hospital and Gleaners Food Bank, totaling $10,000.
