Indiana University men’s basketball forward and freshman Mackenzie Mgbako’s trespass case is set to clear next year. His pretrial conference that was set for next month has been canceled.

Monroe County Prosecutors said Mgbako entered a pretrial diversion program, usually available to first-time offenders or those with low-level offenses.

His case will be dismissed if he stays out of trouble until April 29, 2024, according to court records. The agreement was signed by Judge Mary Ellen Diekhoff Nov. 2.

Mgbako was arrested Oct. 22 for trespassing and resisting law enforcement at the east-side Taco Bell, both class A misdemeanors. He posted a $1,500 bond the same day.

Mike Woodson said in an Oct. 27 press release that this would not affect Mgbako’s status on the team. When asked about how Mgbako was doing, Woodson said "all that's behind us, we've got to move forward."

Mgbako entered the team as a top-10 recruit across several rankings.

The men’s basketball regular season began last week. The Hoosiers are on a 2-0 win streak.

The team’s next games are a home game Thursday against Wright State and the Empire Classic against the University of Connecticut on Sunday.
