Eclipse lodging, solar panels taking up farmland, development proposal | Indiana Newsdesk

With so many people converging on Monroe County and other areas for next month’s total eclipse, finding lodging for the big event means thinking outside the box. You should expect prices for hotels and Airbnb’s to soar for the eclipse.

Indiana is on pace to be one of the nation’s leaders in solar power growth. But the amount of acreage needed for solar panels is taking up farmland. Agriculture experts also worry about long-term effects on soil under solar farms.

And Bloomington residents are divided about a proposed development on the city’s southwest side.
