Emergency personel respond to a two-vehicle crash southeast of Columbus Tuesday afternoon.

One person was killed and two seriously injured in a two-vehicle crash Tuesday afternoon just southeast of Columbus.

Bartholomew County Sheriff’s Office responded to a call at 4:11 p.m. at the intersection of East 100 South and South 525 East streets.

Officers found a Chevrolet Impala with two occupants trapped in the vehicle and a Chevrolet truck with a single occupant trapped, according to a press release. Both vehicles had extensive damage.

The driver of the Impala, 51-year-old Tonya Whiteside of Greensburg, was pronounced dead at the scene. The passenger in the car, 47-year-old Christopher Harris of Greensburg, was flown by helicopter to Methodist Hospital with severe injuries.

The driver of the truck, 21-year-old Tyler Myers of Bedford, was also airlifted to Methodist with “significant injuries,” according to the release.

Preliminary investigation indicated the Impala ran a stop sign, striking the truck.
