Retaining first responders, farm bill, IU expressive activity policy | Indiana Newsdesk

Coming up on  Indiana Newsdesk:

The Bloomington Police and Fire departments have struggled with hiring and retaining police officers and fire fighters. They’re hoping the new facilities and an increased budget will alleviate the problem.

With the federal government poised for a shutdown, it’s becoming more likely the 2016 Farm Bill will just be re-authorized – two years after it was set to expire. Dairy farmers warn the price of milk could skyrocket without a new farm bill.

And Indiana University has threatened an employee with termination if she continues to attend vigils protesting its new expressive activity policy.
