Election Day weather: Likely warmer than usual, dry through late afternoon

Tuesday should start off dry, with higher temperatures.

The election is Tuesday, and here in south-central Indiana, forecasters say the weather should cooperate for most of the day.

Tuesday should start off dry, with above-average temperatures, says Aaron Updike, a meteorologist for the National Weather Service in Indianapolis.

“We're going to be much warmer than normal, talking temperatures in the 70s by the afternoon,” Updike says.

But in the late afternoon and early evening hours, forecasters expect a frontal passage.

“And with that, there should be some scattered to numerous showers in the area from about between 3 and 6 o'clock onwards,” Updike says.

Meteorologists say rainfall should begin to end sometime overnight, with totals of around a quarter- to a half-an-inch of rain.
