Fraternity Beta Sigma Psi at Indiana University is now under a cease and desist, suspending all organizational activity until further notice.

IU’s Office of Student Life placed the fraternity under suspension Friday for alcohol violations and endangering others.

This is the third organization to face disciplinary action this school year.

The fraternity has previously faced disciplinary measures at IU, including a cease and desist in February last year for hazing.

A cease and desist is “an interim measure placed upon certain aspects of chapter operations when there is an immediate threat or ongoing investigation.”

IU has an anti-hazing policy in its code of conduct. The university defines hazing as anything that could endanger, abuse, degrade or intimidate someone in a group. Students can report hazing through the Office of Student Conduct.
