Monroe Hospital in Bloomington was evacuated this morning due to an air handler fire on the roof.
In a news release, the hospital said there were no injuries. All patients and staff were safety evacuated for one hour, but seven patients were transported to IU Health Bloomington as a precaution.
"Monroe Hospital has now resumed normal operations, continues to provide care for patients and the emergency department remains open for patients but on temporary diversion for EMS traffic," the hospital said in a release.
The fire started while workers were welding on the air handler above the emergency room, MFPD said.
The Monroe Fire Protection District responded around 10:17 a.m., according to emergency radio dispatch logs.
Some smoke from the fire entered the emergency room through the HVAC system, Monroe Fire Protection District said in a statement. There was some water damage to the ceiling.
Ellettsville Fire Department and IU Health Lifeline Ambulance Service assisted at the scene.
