Monroe County employees will be able to continue using Bloomington Transit services.
The Board of Commissioners approved a one-year agreement Thursday in which the county will pay Bloomington Transit 75 cents for each one-way ride used by employees. The agreement puts a $5,000 ceiling on payments, but the limit can be renegotiated.

Elizabeth Sensenstein, Monroe County Human Resources Director, said there’s an added benefit with this year’s agreement.
“Bloomington Transit is modernizing their system, which requires the use of an app to ride the bus,” Sensenstein said. “So, this is formalizing an agreement with Bloomington Transit to give us access to that app.”
The county will be responsible for making sure only current employees will be using their codes to ride. Transit will use its electronic fare collection system to track the number of rides taken by county employees.
