Thirty-five counties in Indiana are eligible for disaster relief funding, according to Gov. Mike Braun. Recent storms, flooding and tornadoes have damaged homes and businesses across the state.
The National Weather Service in Indianapolis said 45 tornadoes have hit Indiana this year.
The state Department of Homeland Security will work with local agencies to help affected areas.
The following counties are included: Bartholomew, Brown, Clark, Clay, Crawford, Dearborn, Delaware, Elkhart, Floyd, Gibson, Green, Hamilton, Hancock, Harrison, Hendricks, Jefferson, Jennings, Lagrange, Lake, LaPorte, Madison, Marshall, Martin, Morgan, Owen, Perry, Porter, Posey, Shelby, Spencer, Steuben, Switzerland, Vigo, Warrick and Washington counties.
This is Braun’s second disaster relief declaration. The last was April 11 for 18 counties.
