WFIU 75th Anniversary Special: Harmonia, Episode 1

WFIU's early music program, Harmonia, has always reached back in time to the music of the distant past...and now we reached back in (comparatively recent) time, to Harmonia program number 001.

Angela Mariani created Harmonia in 1991 while a graduate student at Indiana University Jacobs School of Music. WFIU debuted the program with an episode called "Star of the Morning." It focused on the Cantigas de Santa Maria, a medieval collection of poems about the miracles of the Virgin Mary set to music that was written out in notation. In honor of WFIU's 75th anniversary, we've dusted off the old cassette tape and present to you the very first Harmonia episode that originally aired October 10, 1991.
