Lea DeLaria: Live Smoke

Lea DeLaria is a singer, actress, and comedienne who in recent years has forged a unique popular-song repertoire and approach, drawing on both standards/Broadway tunes and modern pop-rock for her material. Her recent CD The Live Smoke Session emphasizes the more traditional, storied annals of American songbook, including three Cole Porter songs as well as "You Don't Know What Love Is" and the Lester Young proto-bop tune "Jumpin' With Symphony Sid." This edition of Afterglow also features music from Lou Rawls, Nancy Wilson, Zoot Sims, Dizzy Gillespie, and Duke Ellington.
