EMILY: The Pamela Anderson of Robots

She doesn't have blond hair, but she is curvy. In fact, EMILY is a four-foot long ocean rescue buoy.

But don't let looks deceive you. EMILY (for EMergency Integrated Lifesaving lanYard) is a quick and reliable member of the beach rescue crew. It uses a  built-in sonar device to autonomously search and find distressed swimmers.

How does it work? How much does it cost?

And maybe most importantly, will it be able to replace human lifeguards for good?

Baywatch would certainly be a different kind of show with this kind of cast member.
