Artsweek Event Gives Insight Into 'The Composer's Perception'

Composers are often drawn to the natural world as a source of inspiration for their works. After listening to the natural world, they create sound environments that try to depict images of landscapes, the seasons, or plants and animals.

On February 20th, Connie Cook Glen, professor at the Jacobs School of Music, will give an Artsweek presentation which seeks to reveal some of the methods composers have used in their efforts to capture the world around them.

Music and Nature: the Composer's Perception will combine recorded excerpts with live performances and will be held in Sweeney Hall at the Simon Music Center on Saturday, February 20 th at 3pm.
