A Place For Film - Discussing Home Movie Day 2012

Episode 101 - Discussing Home Movie Day

On this week's episode, we're discussing Home Movie Day at the IU Cinema with Indiana University Communications & Culture grad student James Paasche, and Brian Graney, the Archivist at the Black Film Center Archive, one of the founders of Home Movie Day.

Home Movie Day allows people to bring in their home movies to show on the big screen. The purpose is to discuss the preservation of these films and recognize them as important historical artifacts.

We start with What Have You Seen Lately and Andy's discussing the Heartland screeners he's been watching and Brian is talking about Blue.

We then get into Home Movie Day. Brian was one of the original founders of the event, and he discusses the history along with what to expect at this year's event. You can bring in your own home movies on 8mm, 16mm, VHS or DVD on October 20th and see them shown on the big screen and discuss them with the crowd.

It was a fun event last year, and should be enjoyable this year, so bring your home movies to the Cinema on October 20th at 3pm and join in the event.
