The Jewish Theatre of Bloomington’s Afternoon of Stories

The Jewish Theatre of Bloomington's Storytelling Event is this Sunday
The Jewish Theatre of Bloomington's Storytelling Event is this Sunday

The Jewish Theatre of Bloomington has a story for you. Several, actually. On Sunday, October 22, at 3pm, their Artistic Advisor, Darrell Stone, will emcee an afternoon of storytelling at the Beth Shalom Social Hall. It’s a fundraiser in celebration of Jewish Theatre of Bloomington’s eighteenth year. The storytellers are Sylvia McNair, Krista Detor, Gladys DeVane, Malcolm Dalglish, Francesa Sobrer, Richard Fish, and Malcolm Abrams. There will be music by Svetla Vladeva, and a Tree of Life painting by Jackie Olenick for auction. You can find more information at jewishtheatrebloomington.com, and listen to my conversation about the event with Darrell Stone, above.

Alex Chambers runs WFIU’s arts desk, and produces and hosts WFIU’s Inner States, a weekly podcast and radio show about arts, culture, and ideas from southern Indiana and beyond. He’s the co-creator of How to Survive the Future, a podcast about the present, produced in partnership with Indiana Humanities. He has a PhD in American Studies, with a dissertation called Climate Violence and the Poetics of Refuge, and a book of poems called Bindings: A Preparation, about domestic life and empire. In his spare time, he teaches audio storytelling at the IU Media School. When he’s not in the woods gathering sound, you might see him out for a run on the streets of Bloomington.
