Adult Obesity Rate Climbs Over 30 Percent in 12 States

Adult obesity in the United States has climbed to over 30 percent for 12 states, with the highest rates in the South.

Mississippi ranked number one as the most obese state with 34.9 percent, while Colorado was the least obese with a rate of 20.7 percent.

Later this fall a comprehensive report about obesity will forecast future effects on health care due to weight-related issues. It will also discuss health gains when body mass indexes (BMIs) drop by five percent.
