Farmers Speak Out About Farm Bill, Changing Food System

When they finally realized that actually what they were doing was not farming but growing good, healthy soil, their farming practices became a lot more successful.

That's author Daniel Tucker. He spoke with small farmers all over the country who are growing food and bringing it to customers in innovative ways. He'll highlight a couple of the most interesting examples from his book Farm Together Now in the first half of our show.

Jeremy Bernfeld of Harvest Public Media also speaks with farmers to find out their reactions to Congress' recent extension of the farm bill.

In the kitchen, Chef Daniel Orr makes a rutabaga mash and a warm collard green salad.

And, it's off to Jeff Mease's farm to meet his water buffaloes. That interview from our Earth Eats archives.
