Fresh And Local All Year Long With Winter Farmers Markets

Thanks to winter farmers' markets, eating fresh and local can continue all year round.

The USDA reported the number of winter farmers' markets has increased since 2010 38 percent from 886 in 2010 to 1,225 in 2011.

New York is the number one state for number of winter markets, and Virgina and Michigan made their first showing on the top ten winter market list.

Winter markets are healthy for both consumer and farmer. Not only can consumers more easily find winter crops, but farmers say they are able to retain relationships with buyers.
