Healthy Diets, Less Hyperactivity?

Parents don't need studies to tell them junk food is bad for kids. But could a healthy diet be the best treatment for ADHD?

Not exactly.

A new paper released in the journal Pediatrics has studied the link between different diets and hyperactivity in children. Some popular diets have included elimination and restriction -- avoiding items like preservatives and sugar.

However, before throwing out a healthy diet, doctors say a combination of healthy eating and medication can more effectively control ADHD than either one on their own.

That news is bittersweet -- disheartening for parents looking for an alternative to medication, but encouraging in controlling hyperactivity for children.
