Chickens From Beginning To End, Swiss Chard, Burn Your Field

Everybody loves chickens. If you leave your doors open, if you don't put them away at night, they are going to get killed. It's just the way it is.

Jana Wilson called chickens the snack food of the animal kingdom. She talks about what you need to do to keep your backyard flock safe from predators.

We also hear about the dilemma all small-time chicken farmers have to wrestle with as birds age out of their egg-laying years -- to kill or not to kill.

It may seem odd that some farmers burn their fields. Harvest Public Media describes why it's actually beneficial.

Swiss chard is combined with lots of cheese and eggs in today's recipe.
