Dancing the Night Away

Around the turn of the nineteenth century, this composer was becoming increasingly interested in putting his own unique creative stamp on each work. In doing this, he might well have been inspired by the mythological figure who is the subject of this ballet. The composer never worked much in this genre, and today, none of his ballets are among his most popular works. Still, something about this work apparently stuck with him, leading him to reuse a theme from the finale was reused in several later pieces…
