The Great, White North

This composer was also one of the most noted violin virtuosi of his time. One witness claimed that his cadenzas "really terrified me because such [cadenzas] have not been nor can ever be played." This virtuosity translated into his compositions as well, as is evidenced in this piece. The accompanying sonnet notes the dichotomy between chilly weather and beautiful music.
