This week marks our first show in the month of March (at least for 2017). So in honor of March, the Ether Game Brain Trust this week is going to play...the March! Yes, an episode dedicated to that oh-so-patriotic genre, a show we're calling "March For March"!

"The Liberty Bell" March by John Philip Sousa was also used as the theme music for Monty Python's Flying Circus (mostly because the music was in the public domain).The stately trio from the first Pomp And Circumstance march by Edward Elgar has become an American graduation piece (and a British patriotic tune). Its title "Pomp and Circumstance" comes from a line from Shakespeare's Othello!The march-like music from the first movement of Dmitri Shostakovich's Second Piano Concerto was used in the film Fantasia 2000 to accompany the story of The Steadfast Tin Soldier. It wasn't featured in the first Fantasia film because the piece was written 13 years after that film was made!Although The Music Man features a song called "Seventy-Six Trombones," composer Meredith Willson was a flute player, and played in both Sousa's band and the New York Philharmonic.See the full playlist below:
