The aria "Un Bacio Di Mano" ("A Kiss On The Hand") by Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart was an "insertion aria," written for use in another composer's opera: Le gelosie fortunate by Pasquale Anfossi. Mozart later reused part of the melody from this aria for the first movement of his Jupiter Symphony!The ballet The Fairy's Kiss by Igor Stravinsky was based on songs and piano pieces by Pyotr Ilyich Tchiakovsky, and written to commemorate 35 years after Tchaikovsky's death.The final scene in Richard Strauss's Salome has the title character kissing the severed head of John the Baptist, before being killed herself!The song "It's In His Kiss" (The Shoop Shoop Song) was made famous by Betty Everett, but first performed by Merry Clayton, a singer most known for performing the background vocals to "Gimme Shelter" by the Rolling Stones.See the full playlist below:
