The premiere of this work took place upon the composer's completion of studies with one of his teachers. This piece represents the final project from his studies, and depicts elements reminiscent of Aesop's Fables and Hans Christian Andersen. This piece remains one of this composer's most popular and finest works despite its early composition date.
